Courage, Discipline and Professional Excellence Must Define PAC Personnel: CM Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: Addressing the 78th Raising Day event of the Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary (UP PAC), Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday said that courage, discipline, devotion to duty, professional efficiency and rigorous training must become the defining identity of PAC personnel. He described the PAC’s 78-year journey as a proud legacy of discipline, valour, sacrifice and dedication to the nation.

The Chief Minister said that the rule of law is the foundation of good governance and a secure investment climate, which in turn helps fulfil the aspirations of the youth. “A strong law-and-order system ensures safety, boosts investor confidence and strengthens Uttar Pradesh’s image across the country,” he said.

CM Yogi inaugurated the Raising Day ceremony and visited an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the PAC. He highlighted the crucial role played by the force in internal security, disaster management, elections, major festivals and the protection of VVIPs, often operating on the frontlines in sensitive situations.

Recalling acts of bravery, he cited the role of PAC personnel during the 2001 Parliament attack and the 2005 terrorist attack at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya. He said the revival of 46 PAC companies and continuous modernisation in terms of manpower, training and technology have strengthened the force significantly.

The Chief Minister noted that the government has equipped the PAC with modern weapons and riot-control gear, improved training modules and enhanced welfare facilities. He informed that over 41,000 constables and nearly 700 platoon commanders have been recruited in the PAC, with large-scale recruitment and promotions currently underway.

CM Yogi also highlighted initiatives related to housing, education, sports and welfare for PAC personnel, including police modern schools, subsidised canteens and multi-storey barracks. The sports budget has been increased from ₹70 lakh to ₹10 crore, enabling police athletes to win numerous medals at national and international events.

During the ceremony, outstanding PAC battalions, flood relief teams, players, police modern schools and meritorious students were felicitated. Impressive demonstrations by PAC personnel, including mallakhamb, gymnastics, yoga, PT displays and band performances, reflected a blend of discipline, fitness and patriotism.

Senior officials including Minister of State for Social Welfare Asim Arun, Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna, Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad and senior PAC officers were present on the occasion.
